Citizens' Rights were discussed in Cherven briag

On July, 21st - 22nd, 2011 Chitalishte "Svetlina 1999", Cherven briag hold a meeting for Chitalishtes working in the thematic area "Citizens' Rights" of the project "Activating Communities through the Chitalishte Community Cultural Centers in Bulgaria: Second Phase". After being introduced to the initiatives of Chitalishte "Svetlina 1999" and the Public Info Center at the Chitalishte, the visitors met Ms. Verginia Vasileva, Deputy-mayor of Cherven briag. During the meeting they had the opportunity to exchange thought about the possibilities for long term partnerships between local authorities and NGOs.

In the course of the study tour trip Chitalishte "Hristo Botev 27", Koilovci village presented their initiative "Hear the Voice of the Village" and Chitalishte "Napredak 1869", Gorna Oriahovica - "Establishment of a Discussion Club: Citizens' Rights". Mrs. Emilia Lissichkova, Chairperson of AGORA Platform's Board of Trustees and Mr. Krasimir Ivanov, Mayor of Koilovci also attended the study tour trip and the community discussion that followed it. During the community discussion, organized by the Public Center "Svetlina" the analysis of the team on the accessible environment of the cultural institutions (Chitalishte) on the territory of the municipality was launched. The guests from visiting Chitalishtes had the opportunity to speak informally with the partner Chitalishtes of "Svetlina" about the campaign for ensuring accessible environment.

   

On the next day, a host of the participants in the study tour was Chitalishte "Vasil Hristov", village of Ruptci with its first steps in Chitalishte "Svetlina - 1999" campaign for accessible cultural institutions. The meeting was attended by the village mayor and members of the project teams involved in the initiative. Mrs. Aneta Arhangelova, Chitalishte's Secretary briefly presented the Chitalishte activities related with the initiative and the participants continued with an hour long discussion on options for community consolidation around the initiative and the ways for activating the community for action.
