Platform AGORA - branch Burgas opens the festival season with the newest addition to the festival events of AGORA. Jointly with our partners Secondary School "Episkop Konstantin Preslavski" - Burgas , Bulgaria and Lüleburgaz High School, Turkey we would like to invite you to the first editions of Festival of Generations. The Festival and the International Conference "Knowledge for Generations" will be held on both sides of the border as 'mirror' events, respectively in Luleburgaz, Turkey (29 and 30 May, 2015) and in Burgas (5 and 6 June, 2015).
Let's look back and see how it all started!
The joint work stared in the autumn of 2014 and the aim of the partners was to create a joint communication environment on the base of accumulated social and cultural experience of the generations for achievement of social development and creation of social cohesion links in the cross-border region.
During the project implementation at the partner schools Youth Units have been created where in 'generation teams' youth and elderly jointly worked on topics on their choice. Part of the Youth Units actions have been joint activities of the students and elderly, directly related to their roots- research and development of a genealogical tree. Following the developed methodology for research within the project, the students worked hard and now is their time to share the results, own satisfaction and new knowledge acquired with a wider audience. As result of the Artistic Ateliers' work in both partner countries and the family research done new cultural products interpreting the generations' relations and communication have been produced:
• theater performance "Once, ever", dramatization by generic stories collected by students from High School "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski", Burgas;
• music and dance show "Our Folklore from Anatolia to the Balkans" by generic stories collected by students from Luleburgaz High School, Luleburgaz;
• photo exhibition "Generations".
On May 29th, 2015 in Luleburgaz an International Conference "Knowledge for Generations" will be held where professors, researchers and teachers from Bulgaria and Turkey will speak about the continuity between generations and what is the contemporary significance of knowledge for future generations. More specifically, they will share what research methodology has been applied in the making of family trees in the cross-border region within the project. Another major topic to be discussed within the conference is the lexical (vocabulary) fund of generations - how the language is evolving and how was collected the lexical fund in the cross-border region Luleburgaz - Kırklareli and Burgaz - Strandzha. The positive experiences in the interaction between youth and the older generation on both sides of the border will be shared.
Festival of Generations is the event that will demonstrate the effectiveness of the approaches applied and will visualize the results of the dialogue and cohesion of the generations. The concept of the festival is to showcase the good generational practices in series of public events open to the general public.
The second day of the program - May 30, 2015 - is devoted to the Festival and in the open spaces the youth will present their experience through sharing with the visitors „How to Make a Family Tree?" and let them know about the results of their work. The hosts from Luleburgaz have prepared "word games" with the words gathered by the students in the "Generations Vocabulary" and will present traditional Turkish poems to the festival audience. During the day the photo exhibition "Generations" could be viewed as well.
On the evening of May 30th, 2015 will be the premiere of the cultural products - theater performance "Once, ever" by the students from High School "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski", Burgas and the music and dance show "Our Folklore from Anatolia to the Balkans" of the hosts from Luleburgaz High School, Turkey.
Also, on the stage will perform the vocal group "Morski zvancheta and Daren Radev - all of them students at High School "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski", Burgas.
