Family History and Exchange between Generations in Luleburgaz

On May 29 and 30, 2015 in Luleburgaz, Turkey were held the first public events within the project "Festival of Generations", implemented in partnership by Platform AGORA - branch Burgas, Secondary School "Episkop Konstantin Preslavski" - Burgas, Bulgaria and Lüleburgaz High School, Turkey.
The International Conference "Knowledge for Generations" was held on May 29, 2015 in Luleburgaz and provided a unique opportunity for cross-border exchange on topics such as "Continuity between Generations - Forms and Means of Research", presented by Associated Professor Dr. Raya Staykova, Institute for Development of Societies and Knowledge, Bulgarian Academy of Science and "Lexical Wealth: How the Language is Evolving", presented by Associated Professor Dr. Andrey Boyadzhiev, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". The teachers from the partner schools in Burgas and Luleburgaz spoke about the methodology of the research they had applied while building the genealogical trees in the regions of Luleburgaz - Kırklareli and Burgaz - Strandzha. Especially emotional and interesting was the presentation of the research and building of the genealogical trees by the students as well as the process of collecting family stories.
In the framework of the conference the methodology and work done for compilation of "Generations Vocabulary" was presented as well as the final result - the Vocabulary itself with two sections. One of them contains the words used by the youth that are not known to the elderly and the second part is with words used by the elderly but unknown to the teenagers. The Bulgarian part of the Vocabulary was presented by Tania Petrova, Senior teacher in Bulgarian language and literature at Secondary School "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski", Burgas. Guest to the conference from Bulgaria was Eng.Violeta Ilieva, Head of the Regional Education Inspectorate - Burgas who greeted the participants.
The Festival of Generations was held on May 30, 2015 and in the open-air exhibition the students presented their genealogical trees and the photo exhibition "Generations" was on display. The students from Secondary School "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski", Burgas performed a concert with Bulgarian songs dedicated to Burgas and the sea and presented a theater performance "Once, ever" based on the family history collected within the project. The festival evening ended with spectacular music and dance show "Generations Dance" of the hosts from Luleburgaz High School.
