In July 2017, the first specialized thematic training "Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship" of Platform AGORA was held in cooperation with experts from Reach for Change, Bulgaria. The municipalities Stambolyiski, Ivailovgrad, Lyaskovetc and Montana participating in AGORA's project "Active Communities: Building Capacity for Change", supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation hosted series of trainings. 87 participants thought over, discussed and learnt about social entrepreneurship. The aim of the training was to introduce the participants to the social entrepreneurship philosophy, to let them know more about social entrepreneurship characteristics, to present in a wider scope its role in the European economy, the opportunities and tendencies for development, to promote good examples of social enterprises from Bulgaria and abroad.
Within the three training days the participants learnt more about the specifics of social entrepreneurship, the most common business models applied in the field, as well as they got the know the challenges, approaches and good practices for starting social entrepreneurship initiative of their own. Also, they exercised the business modeling principles through the business model canvas and got an idea how the "organization" could create, provide and deliver value. The overall participants' feedback showed that the new information, knowledge and models, the connection between theory and practice within the training provoked them to rearrange and structure their own thinking into entrepreneurship mode. Some even headed back home motivated and with ideas for social entrepreneurship to share with colleagues, convinced that even if they fail, they could analyze their mistakes and by applying techniques for adjustments would get up and continue ahead.
"Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship" was the first training from the set of specialized thematic trainings of Platform AGORA within the project "Active Communities: Building Capacity for Change". Next two trainings "Alternative Tourism" and "Arts, Culture and Cultural Heritage" are to be held in the fall of 2017.
