Tuesday, 29 November 2011

On December 03rd (Saturday) at 03:30 pm on the small stage of the Youth Theater "Nikolai Binev", Sofia, AGORA Platform is going to present three artistic stories on MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) with the participation of artists from three countries. The international public event is in the framework of AGORA Platform's project "Art Changes Lives". The project has been funded with support from the "Youth in Action" Programme of the European Commission.

The event provides a stage for presentation of three unique theater performances interpreting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with artistic means. The performances are created by three youth theater groups:

  • "Purification", a pantomime and dance performance, presented by theater "MIM - ART" at "Tishina" association, Sofia, Bulgaria. The artists with impaired hearing from theater "MIM ART" at "Tishina" Association will deliver their message through pantomime, synchronous singing and dance facilitated by a sign language interpretation. Their story will lead us through the bad and good consequences of the human activity, starting with the act of Creation going through the nature challenges and ending with the aerosol deodorants in our handbags.
  • "You Are Not Alone", a puppet theater, presented by "Uçan Eller Kuklaevi", Luleburgas, Turkey. "You Are Not Alone" is the message of Ucaneller Culture and Art House Association, Turkey. Their puppet characters are challenged by the nature in a quest of their place on Earth with limited natural resources to finally realize that when they are not alone but together they are stronger.
  • "School Dream", a forum theater, presented by PATRIR, Cluj Napoka, Romania. What are the dreams of a boy with impaired vision and how he can reach them in a world that does not tolerate the "different"? That issue will be presented by the Romanian actors from PATRIR. Through the artistic means of the forum theater, the actors will encourage the audience to get involved into a real life story, develop and bring it to a better end.

The aim of the performances is to involve the youth in a conversation on the global issues and through the artistic tools to provoke their action, creativity and responsibility for our common future. "Together Responsible for Our Future" is the joint slogan that was formulated by the young people from three theater groups to address their peers in Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

The theater mix is a kind of invitation to the English speaking guests and residents of Sofia who would have the unique opportunity to participate in the forum theater in their native language.
