The First Round Table Discussion was held in Bursa

On January 09th, 2016 in Bursa, Turkey was held the first public event within the project "Unlock the Treasures" funded by the Civil Society Dialogue Between EU And Turkey -III Political Criteria Grant Scheme, Lot 2: Anti-Discrimination. More about the project could be found here.
More than 70 guests took part in the event; among them were representatives from civil society organizations from Bursa, Istanbul (Turkey), Kardjali (Bulgaria).
The Consul of Bulgaria in Bursa, Mr. Evgeni Vasilev addressed the audience as well as the attending Mayor of Nilifer Municipality, Bursa - Mr. Ali Kizilkaya, the Chairperson of Platform AGORA - Mrs. Emilia Lissichkova and the Chairman of BALGÖÇ - Mr. Yüksel Özkan.
The round table proceeded with presentation of the European and international mechanisms for protection of human rights by Mrs. Esen Fikri, expert in the field and on European legislation under the project. Contribution to the topic was made by Professor Dr. Kamuran Reçber, international and EU law expert who pointed out the cooperation between the Union and the Republic of Turkey on the human rights, discrimination and migration issues. In conclusion, Mr. Hari Alexiev, Human Rights expert of the project reviewed the Bulgarian national equality bodies, the good policies contributing to better intercultural understanding, as well as the role of civil society organizations in these processes.
During the round table discussion the start of the photo contest "Unlock the Treasures" was announced. The deadline for submission of photographs is March 21st, 2016. More about the photo contest could be found here.
The next event within the project will be held in February in Bursa, when representatives of civil society organizations from Turkey will be trained on the topic of human rights, discrimination and intercultural dialogue.
