The Challenge to Participate

In November 2015, Platform AGORA and the Bulgarian School of Politics "Dimitry Panitza" in partnership with the Chitalishte "Pencho Slaveikov-1919", Malashevci residential district (Sofia) and Chitalishte "Vasil Levski 2012", Pojarevo village, Bozurishte Municipality had held the final two community discussion within the project „Life Changing Challenges".
On November 18th, 2015 at 05:30 pm in Chitalishte "Pencho Slaveikov-1919" during the discussion the residents of Malashevci identified the following problems: change of transport scheme in the district and search for solutions regarding the crosswalk in front of the Chitalishte building. As a first step in the problem solving process two public subscriptions have been started.
On November 21st, 2015 at 10:30 am in Chitalishte "Vasil Levski 2012" the local community prioritized two major problems from the many identified during the discussion as follows: the infrastructure with all its components and the dilapidated building of the village school.
After the twelve community discussions held around the country, the next stage of the project „Life Changing Challenges" is holding of the first module of the training "Active Civic Participation and Leadership" Programme with the local representatives from the twelve communities. The training will be held in Sofia, December 03rd - 06th, 2015.
Platform AGORA and the Bulgarian School of Politics "Dimitry Panitza" in partnership with 12 Chitalishta from all over the country work for supporting the local communities and leaders in building mechanisms for decision making within the communities, thus increasing the citizens' participation in the decision making process. The project is financed by the NGO Programme under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (2009 - 2014).
